Representative Matters

Obtained an emergency restraining order for a client, and later, a court order mandating professionally supervised child visitation, parenting classes, and individual therapy for a troubled parent. This parent complied with all of the court’s provisions, and the parties eventually negotiated a custody and visitation schedule to their mutual satisfaction and for the good of the child involved.

Received a favorable custody evaluation for a parent seeking to move internationally with the parties’ minor children.
Professional and Community Contributions
Laurel served as the co-chair of the Women Lawyers Committee of the Santa Clara County Bar Association in 2010 and 2011, and is involved with the Junior League of San Jose. She volunteers for the Santa Clara County Family Court as an early neutral evaluator. She has served as a court-appointed special advocate for children, and as a volunteer for the Pro Bono Project. Laurel also donates her time to The Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. She is a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity and previously served as the technical editor of the Santa Clara Law Review.
