Cherrie Tan


With in-house perspective on intellectual property and tech law Cherrie represents clients in general civil litigation matters.

Before joining McManis Faulkner, Cherrie advocated for creditors’ rights at a debt collection firm, helping clients negotiate the complexities of their debt. She also has experience handling corporate, patent, and copyright issues. These multifaceted experiences give Cherrie a powerful combination of skills she can draw upon to represent clients in tech-driven Silicon Valley.

In addition, Cherrie served as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Charles A. Smiley, at the Alameda County Juvenile Court. She conducted legal research on privacy and technology in the juvenile context, advised the judge on cases, and evaluated attorneys and their performance.  

Cherrie has a keen sense of cultural sensitivity. She has represented organizations in cross-border exchanges, and successfully navigated the intricacies of proper etiquette in China and Japan.
