In an interview with NBC Bay Area, associate Andrew Parkhurst discusses employers offering hazard pay to workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The video segment aired on May 4.
Andrew says there is no legal requirement – or even definition, for that matter – for "hazard pay." Rather, it may be an incentive that employers offer to entice employees to take on certain job responsibilities the average employee would not want. To receive hazard pay, Andrew says employees need to speak with their employers to find out if it is an option they would be willing to provide.
