Partner Michael Warren is quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle discussing the July 1 minimum wage increase and its impact on businesses despite the coronavirus pandemic. Several cities stuck with the planned increase, but some others have halted the increases in an effort to spare businesses the added financial burden.
Workers, meanwhile, are grateful for the increased pay, but according to Michael, not all minimum wage workers may count on a pay increase. Gov. Gavin Newsom can delay the statewide pay increases if economic conditions do not support them, although he must do so by Aug. 1. “I do think opponents will raise economics and ask that these increases be delayed,” Michael said.
