On October 14-15, the Northern District Practice Program (NDPP) presented a symposium on racial bias issues as they relate to federal practice. Panels at the symposium analyzed the role that race and racial prejudice play in the workplace, sentencing, jury selection, access to justice, and civil litigation. The symposium featured judges and other experts speaking about their experience, groundbreaking case law, and changes to procedure and research. The virtual event concluded with “A Conversation with the Honorable Thelton E. Henderson” (hosted by The Honorable Haywood S. Gilliam, Jr.). Elizabeth Pipkin serves on the Board of NDPP and participated on the organizational committee for this symposium.
