McManis Faulkner, a leading Northern California trial firm, has been named one of the Top Workplaces in the Bay Area by the Bay Area News Group. For the second consecutive year, the firm ranked number two in the “Top Small Workplaces” category.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a Top Workplace and even more so since this is our second consecutive year. Our driving purpose is to serve our clients while creating an environment that allows our diverse staff to develop a fellowship that supports success for our clients, the firm and surrounding community,” said James McManis, founder and head of the firm.
The Top Workplaces rankings are based on survey information collected by Workplace Dynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention. Ten large companies, 20 midsize companies and 35 small companies were ranked after surveys were submitted by employees. There were 59 organizations in the small employer category. Rankings were composite scores calculated on the basis of employee responses about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, values, and ethics. Private companies and non-profits, as well as publicly held businesses, were included in the analysis.
In the survey, McManis Faulkner was applauded for its commitment to supporting the professional advancement of its attorneys and staff, making their employment fulfilling both professionally and personally. Noting that the firm’s employees come from diverse backgrounds, bringing unique experiences and perspectives, McManis Faulkner was highlighted for creating an environment where each employee is part of the team and treated with respect for their individuality and the distinct value they bring.
McManis Faulkner also offers employees a true “open door” policy, with access to senior staff members who enjoy coaching younger professionals. The firm regularly offers professional development seminars and mentoring programs and hosts alumni events and organizational meetings.
A commitment to the Silicon Valley community also contributes to the firm’s Top Workplace status. McManis Faulkner attorneys and staff work with many local organizations and participate on the boards and committees of other non-profits, such as the Pajama Program, Adopt-A-Family, AIDS Legal Referral Panel of San Francisco, AIDS Walk, Girl Scouts of Northern California, Support Network for Battered Women, and Child Advocates of San Mateo.
In the past year, the firm has sponsored a number of events at the San Jose Rep, where an attorney serves on the Board of Directors. In addition, in conjunction with The Pajama Program’s “Open Your Heart” campaign, the firm’s employees donated time, pajamas, and money to foster children in need. During the holidays, McManis Faulkner contributed to this worthy organization’s local chapter, which was established by one of the firm attorneys.
