James McManis was quoted in the article “San Jose City Council Members Subpoenaed in Vietnamese Shopping Center Case,” published in the January 20, 2016 issue of the San Jose Mercury News. McManis is representing the Vietnamese American Community of Northern California in its lawsuit accusing San Jose officials of repeatedly violating the Brown Act, California's law requiring open government meetings. In the article, McManis discusses San Jose officials’ pattern of flouting the Brown Act and their attempts to avoid service of subpoenas for February 1, 2016 trial.
