The Bay Area Green Business Program recently recertified McManis Faulkner as a Green Business. The program, coordinated by the Association of Bay Area Governments, certifies only those businesses meeting a set of high standards that regulate environmental performance. First certified in 2009, McManis Faulkner has met the certification criteria three times by implementing business measures aimed at water conservation, solid waste reduction and recycling, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.
“When we received our first certification in 2009, we were one of only three law firms to be recognized – and we missed being the first by mere months. Today, there are nearly a dozen firms certified. While we are proud to be among the early sustainability pioneers, we take even more pride in the work we have done and continue to do to minimize our carbon footprint,” said James McManis, head of the firm.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, McManis Faulkner developed policies to create energy efficiency at the firm-wide and individual levels, uses paperless communications whenever possible, implements recycling programs of all types, and revised purchasing preferences for environmentally sensitive products and services.
