James McManis, who represented a Vietnamese community group in a case against San Jose regarding violations of the Brown Act, was quoted in a San Jose Mercury News article, titled “San Jose: Are City Leaders Doing Enough to Comply with Open-Meeting Law?,” published on April 24, 2017. The article examines whether the San Jose City Council is complying with the Brown Act. “They need to take this a lot more seriously than they appear to be,” McManis said, “especially because it’s an order of the court.”
