McManis Faulkner Counts Four Partners in The Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers One to Watch 2023

McManis Faulkner partners James McManis, William Faulkner, Michael Reedy and Abimael “A.J.” Bastida have been recognized by The Best Lawyers and Best Lawyers Ones to Watch 2023©.

James McManisMcManis has been recognized by Best Lawyers for 27 consecutive years. He is included in the “Bet-the-Company Litigation; Commercial Litigation; Criminal Defense: White-Collar; Litigation – First Amendment; Litigation – Intellectual Property; and Litigation – Municipal” categories. A seasoned trial lawyer and member of the trial bar for more than 50 years, McManis represents individuals in a wide variety of matters, including commercial, trade secrets, and intellectual property cases, as well as civil rights actions, employment disputes, family law and criminal defense. McManis earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (1967) and his B.A. in History, with Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, from Stanford University (1964).

Bill FaulknerRecognized for 16 consecutive years, Faulkner was honored in the following categories: “Commercial Litigation; Litigation – Intellectual Property; Litigation – Real Estate; and Litigation – Trusts & Estates.” Faulkner leads McManis Faulkner’s business-oriented practices, handling complex civil litigation, including business disputes, commercial real estate matters and probate litigation. He represents a wide range of businesses, including technology companies, and advises on corporate and partnership matters. Faulkner earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1978) and his B.A. in Sociology from Stanford University (1973).

Reedy was recognized in the “Appellate Practice” and “Family Law” categories for the third straight year. With more than 25 years of experience in civil litigation and appellate law, Reedy represents clients in family law matters. He has tried cases in both state and federal court and handles appeals in the Ninth Circuit and the California Court of Appeal on matters involving civil rights, constitutional issues, business litigation, land use and family law. Reedy also has experience handling anti-SLAPP matters and he is a frequent speaker on the topic. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1992) and his B.A. from Stanford University (1978).

AJ BastidaMaking his first appearance on the Best Lawyers Ones to Watch list, Bastida was recognized in the “Commercial Litigation” and Litigation – Labor and Employment” categories. Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America recognizes associates and other lawyers earlier in their careers for their outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States. Bastida has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of business, criminal and employment-related disputes. He also has experience with civil rights, probate and trust litigation and white-collar matters, representing high-level executives. He earned his J.D. (2014) with a High Tech Law Certificate and his B.S. in Engineering (2011) from Santa Clara University.
