McManis Faulkner partner Abimael “A.J.” Bastida has been named by The Recorder, California’s premier legal newspaper, as one of five “Lawyers on the Fast Track” in the general litigation category. The Recorder’s annual California Legal Awards were announced on Wednesday evening at an event in Los Angeles and published in the newspaper and its Law.com affiliates.
In its Q&A profile of Bastida, The Recorder highlights his two recent, civil rights-related jury trials against the City of San Jose, one of which resulted in a successful $1.3M jury verdict, as well as his quick work in taking over a matter with only two weeks to file a summary judgment motion, filing the motion and succeeding in persuading the court to dismiss his client from the lawsuit. The profile also notes Bastida’s commitment to mentorship and “paying it forward.”
Bastida represents both plaintiffs and defendants in business, criminal, civil rights and employment-related disputes. He also has experience with probate and trust litigation and representing high-level executives in white-collar matters. A member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association (SCCBA) , the Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Association and the William A. Ingram Inn of Court, Bastida has also been named among the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s “40 Under 40,” the Daily Journal’s “40 Under 40,” and to the Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” category in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Litigation – Labor and Employment.
