Our client, an African immigrant, was driving her children home from day care on a dark stretch of road in rural Santa Clara County. When she looked in the rearview mirror, she saw flashing lights behind her. Fearing for herself and her children’s safety, she pulled over at the nearest well-lit shopping center.
