Leading Northern California trial firm McManis Faulkner has been named one of 2023’s “Top Boutiques” in California by the Daily Journal, California’s largest legal newspaper.
The Daily Journal’s “Top Boutiques” awards recognize California’s leading small law firms dedicated to one practice area. One of 20 law firms selected to the list, McManis Faulkner was lauded for its trial work. The firm was also named to the “Top Boutiques” list in 2016 and 2018.
In its coverage of the honor, the Daily Journal discusses the firm’s excellence at trial. Partner Tyler Atkinson states that “trial work is in our DNA” and commends firm founder Jim McManis for imprinting “the ethos of the trial lawyer” on everyone at the firm. All 19 of the firm’s lawyers are trial lawyers.
The Daily Journal profile details several of the firm’s trial successes, including a trio of recent wins for major technology companies. Beyond its recent success in tech litigation, the firm has built a reputation for fighting government wrongdoing, with Managing Partner Elizabeth Pipkin explaining, “We’re really proud to take on those type of cases.” The profile also reviews the firm’s historic Ibrahim matter, the first successful challenge of an individual wrongly placed on a no-fly list.
Additionally, McManis Faulkner is commended for its award-winning family law practice, led by Certified Family Law Specialist Brandon Rose, and its familial culture, noting that Partner Hilary Weddell began working for the firm as a file clerk while in high school.
