McManis Faulkner’s Michael Reedy and Brandon Rose Selected for Daily Journal’s Top Family Lawyer Awards

McManis Faulkner congratulates partners Michael Reedy and Brandon Rose for their inclusion in the “Top Family Lawyers” awards list published by the Daily Journal, California’s largest legal newspaper. The annual roundup recognizes top family lawyers in California who have made a difference to their clients, their firms, and the legal profession. This is Reedy’s first appearance on this list and Rose’s third consecutive appearance.

The Daily Journal commends Reedy for his 30+ years practicing family law. Reedy states that his reason for working in this field for so long was his desire to help people solve problems under difficult conditions. The profile covers Reedy’s recent efforts to settle an emotional abuse case, and how his approach with judges and mediators was one of the main reasons this matter was resolved successfully. Additionally, Reedy shared an observation on the family law field: “The best family lawyers focus on solving problems, not creating conflict.”

For Rose, the Daily Journal explains an intricate, yearslong matter on which Rose recently prevailed at the California Court of Appeal. The appellate court decision secured a victory of about $15 million for Rose’s client. “There is no better feeling than getting clients through a difficult divorce and seeing how much happier they are having made it through their ordeal,” says Rose in the profile.

With more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation and appellate law, Reedy represents clients in family law and appellate matters. He has tried cases in both state and federal court and handled appeals in the Ninth Circuit and the California Court of Appeal on matters involving civil rights, constitutional issues, business litigation, land use and family law. He is an active member and Past President of American Inns of Court, the Honorable William A. Ingram Inn, and he previously served as a board member of the American Civil Liberties Union, Santa Clara County Chapter. Also, Reedy served as Chair of the Board of Directors at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1992) and his B.A. from Stanford University (1978).

Chair of McManis Faulkner’s award-winning Family Law Group, Rose has been certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California. He handles complex family law matters, resolving property and business disputes, as well as contested child custody and support issues. Rose serves as a Judge Pro Tem for the San Mateo County Superior Court’s “Divorce in a Day” Program, which helps self-represented litigants obtain a judgment of divorce or legal separation. Rose was named a “Family Law Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal in 2022, and the Northern California Super Lawyers magazine named him a “Rising Star” from 2017-2020 and a “Super Lawyer” in 2023. Rose received his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School (2009) and his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (2004). Between college and law school, he taught English in Japan.
